Since 1913, Prada has been synonymous with cutting-edge style. Its intellectual universe combines concept, structure and image through codes that go beyond trends. Its fashion transcends products, translating conceptuality into a universe that has become a benchmark to those who dare to challenge conventions focusing on experimentation. The Prada brand is part of Prada Group, a global leader in the luxury goods industry, which owns the Miu Miu, Church’s and Car Shoe brands as well, and produces and distributes luxury leather goods, footwear and apparel. It also operates in the food sector with Marchesi 1824, and in the eyewear and fragrance industries under licensing agreements.
Prada characters, Prada stories, Prada lives.
The Spring/Summer 2023 Prada campaign situates the men’s and women’s collections by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons within a continuum, ever-unfolding, enigmatic fragments of stories reflecting facets of humanity, sides of personae, and echoes of realities. Emotional complexity, parallels and paradoxes, alternate perspectives
The Prada Spring/Summer 2023 women’s collection by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons presents a sequence of realities – reflections, refractions, observations. Acts of reality.
There is an interrelationship between the raw and the sensual, between delicacy and roughness, an emulsification of contrasts. The collection plays constantly with dissimilitude and paradox, shifting between different visions, separate realities.
Reality translates to humanity. It is reflected through a sense of the hand, a touch of the crude, a rawness that evokes a fragility. Day and evening clothes cross-pollinate, the signs and signifiers of each shifting – opera coats fuse with leather jackets, tailoring borrows trains of fabric. Clothes for the intimacy of the home in delicate pastel tones fuse with outerwear, a blurring of distinct realities, while a notion of Prada uniform, in bodysuits of poplin shirting in industrial colors, denotes a minimalized reality. Accessories propose an antique nappa, surfaces patinated, pressed and wrinkled, used to reinterpret archetypal and classic Prada handbag silhouettes.
The Spring/Summer 2023 Menswear collection by Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons is an expression of curated processes. Fashion here is evoked through context, the juxtaposition of elements and garments, fashioning an impression, creating style. Fashion as a manner, a way as well as a means of appearing. An expression of choice.
The tools of this collection are direct, recognizable, archetypal pieces – suits, overcoats, sweaters, shirts, denim, leather. Known garments are reinvented through context.
Inspirations are malleable, elastic – leather shorts and checked patterns can simultaneously evoke memories of childhood, domestication, or sophistication. There is a friction in the meeting of these reference-points, where a different identity is fashioned.
