In Scandinavia, most people are keen on effortless styling, where it looks like you are way too busy to spend time in front of the mirror but still look groomed and well put together. But rarely any of us can jump straight out of bed and to the office without going through a few beauty rituals first. These daily routines sometimes include steps that could end up damaging your hair. But no worries, here are some easy steps to keep your hair both healthy and glowing.

Choose the right shampoo

It’s a myth that you have to wash your hair every day to keep it healthy – but it is also a myth that you have to wash it as rarely as possible. It depends on your individual needs, like when your hair starts to get oily, or what makes you feel comfortable. What’s not a myth, is how important it is to choose a good shampoo. When you choose the right shampoo, you give your hair exactly what it needs. If you by mistake use a shampoo for fine hair when your hair is actually thick, you won’t get the optimal care. Ask our ILLUM Beauty Hall staff for advice if you’re unsure of what to get.

Take care of your scalp

Most of us are not aware that the foundation of healthy hair starts with taking care of our scalp. But actually, it needs as much attention as our hair and skin. It’s therefore a good idea to invest in a serum, which moistures and nurtures both the roots and the scalp.

Use a hair brush of high quality

A hair brush is not just a hair brush. Many brushes will damage your hair way more than they need to, and it is therefore important to choose a brush of high quality. Find one specific for your type and needs, to make sure it works for your hair, not against it.

Protect your hair against heat styling tools

You probably already know – heat styling tools like straighteners and blow dryers are damaging to your hair. But if you are far from ready to give them up, you should instead add a heat protection product to your daily routine. This protects your hair so you avoid having to deal with split ends and a tired look.
